I have the exact same problem. ios Version 6.1.6 is as far as my iPod touch 4 Gen will go. No option to buy/download to my USA iTunes account. Tells me I need to have 7.0 for current Spotify. I didn't previously purchase it in an older form. I guess no monthly money from me to Spotify.
